Micah @ 18 months

01273520-1 I keep meaning to update our “Micah @” posts, and, well, time just gets away and before I know it, it’s the next month.  But, now that he is officially 18 months, I think it’s time for a little update…

@ 18 months, Micah…

  • weighs 11.9kg
  • measures 90cm
  • climbs EVERYTHING… the dining table and the piano are his two favourites.  They’re also the two areas that we’ve specifically banned.  Hmm, it seems that rebellion is buried deep in this child, too.  ;-)
  • chats up a storm.  In gobbly gook.  Still. He loves having long conversations with us, using all the right inflections, facial expressions and hand gestures  … and leaving us clueless as to what he was on about.  But, it’s normally just fine, as he toddles off on another mission before we have to answer!
  • wants to be everything his big siblings are – that means, when they do homeschool, he wants to draw too (or sit right in the middle of the dining table ON Kiera’s maths book); when the girls sit on the Sitright chairs, he wants to sit there too; when they go running, he wants to go running too.  We bought his a more Micah sized black bike for Christmas, but he hardly rides it – he wants to ride the bigger black bikes like his big siblings.
  • has tons of teeth (I’ll have to go check just how many when he wakes up!) – and we’ve never really known when or if they caused pain, cos he’s never really complained (or we’ve just been super dense, which is probably closer to the truth)
  • is a menace to his brother and sisters – he loves drawing all over everything with their kokis (markers); whacking down Sam’s carefully built block towers and getting stuck up on the jungle gym.  I’ve completely lost count of the moments I’ve had to pull him off Sam after he’d dive-tackled his brother; grabbed Sam’s hair and yanked hard or bitten him on the shoulder.  Sam usually handles it pretty well.
  • does actually say a few words, and just in this last week they’re popping out all over the place.  Consistently, he says “daddy, mama, Katie, Kie-wa, Jo-ha (for Johanna), ight (light), kitty, poo, more, mine, uh-uh, bal (ball), booor (book), der (there), wazdat (what’s that), nana (banana)”  Not the vocab champion by any means, but ever so cute!
  • loves loves loves swimming!

He was having a conversation with me yesterday while I was busy making supper and he was playing on the couch.  I thought it was so cute, I picked up my mini camera and switched it to video mode to capture some of it.  Please excuse the lavatorial discussion!  (And that’s Sam shouting, “mum, come wipe my bum!!!” in the background!)

My ‘baby’ is 18 months old today. They’re a ball of fun, aren’t they? Just wish I had more energy to enjoy it. Just under 2 months before baby arrives. I always think; “What will this one do with the baby?” but they’re always fine, I’ve never had such a small gap before, tho. So far, he’s been quite gentle with other babies.

I love the sound of “I’m fiiiniiished!” coming from the loo. A welcome relieve from changing 2 nappies.

2 months left Olivia! Wow – time flies. Hope the time is good (great!) and it’ll be just fine (the gap). My eldest two were 21 months apart and it was just fine – and I didn’t have older kids to help :) Enjoy it!

I loved the video. But he’s grown in just two months. His hair is so much longer. :(
